    City Election Information 

    Polls will be open on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD. All polling locations, except in Hampton, will be open from 12:00pm to 8:00pm: Hampton precincts will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Click on the Franklin County Precinct Map link above to view all the precinct boundaries. Clink on the Polling Locations link below to see the list of polling locations for each precinct.

    Absentee Ballot Information

    The City Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Voters wishing to receive an absentee ballot by mail must submit a request in writing to the County Auditor’s Office by 5:00pm on Friday, October 30, 2009.

    The request must include:

    • Name
    • Date of birth 
    • Address
    • Signature of the person(s) requesting the ballot
    • Name and date of the election
    • Address where the ballot is to be mailed if it is to be mailed to an address other than where the voter is registered.

    Citizens may fill out an Application for Absentee Ballot Form to make sure that they include all the required information. This form may be obtained by going to the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

    Voters may also vote in the Franklin County Auditor's Office Monday through Friday between the house of 8:00am and 4:00pm.

    The last day to cast an absentee ballot for Hampton Precincts at the County Auditor’s Office is Monday, November 2, 2009, at 4:00pm. The last day to cast an absentee ballot for all other precincts is Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.  Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Monday, November 2nd, and received prior to the official canvass on November 9th at 10:00am.  Ballots returned in person may be delivered to the Auditor’s Office until the close of the polls (8:00 p.m.) on November 3rd.

     
    Registering to Vote/Updating Registration Information

    Anyone who needs to update his/her registration address or information or those not already registered in Franklin County may do so in person in the Auditor’s Office on or before 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23rd to be included in the Election Registers on Election Day.

    However, voters may also register to vote after October 23rd with proper photo-identification and proof of residence address.  Registration forms may be obtained at the link below and mailed to the address above prior to the registration deadline.
