Sarge, K9 Unit
Sarge is a 2 year old golden retriever who helps with narcotics detection for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. His handler is Deputy Adam Blau. He is trained only in narcotics detection, not for other services.

Sarge is trained to locate:

  • marijuana
  • hashish
  • methamphetamine
  • methamphetamine ice
  • cocaine
  • crack cocaine
  • heroin
  • black tar heroin
  • and ecstasy

Sarge is a passive alert dog, which means when he detects the odor of a drug, he sits down. He is very friendly; he is not an attack dog.

Deputy Blau and Sarge are available for presentations for schools and civic organizations upon request. They will also assist any agency that requests their help.
